Sync, backup and a new phone

There is no Doorbook server. Your book lives on your device and, if you are signed in, in your own iCloud — which means backing it up is something you should deliberately do rather than assume.

Sync between your own devices

Signed into iCloud, Doorbook keeps your rooms and their history in step across your iPhone and iPad automatically. It travels in Apple's small key-value store, which is fast and free but strictly limited in size — a very large book, or one with years of history, can outgrow it.

Moving to a new iPhone

  1. 1Install

    Install Doorbook on the new phone

    From the App Store, as normal.

  2. 2Sign in

    Sign into the same Apple ID

    With iCloud Drive turned on. Doorbook restores from your account, not from ours.

  3. 3Restore

    Open Settings → Data & backup

    Choose Backup & restore and pick a restore point. Lease photographs come back with it.

Deleting everything

Delete the app and the data on that device goes with it. To remove the iCloud copy as well, use your device's own Settings (iCloud → Manage Storage), or the app's Erase all data.
